British and Balkan tourists boost Bulgarian resorts of Borovets and Pamporovo – Novinite.com

As the winter the season unfolds, the popularity of Bulgaria winter resorts, Borovets And Pamporovo, are experiencing an increase in the number of foreign visitors, with a notable presence from Great Britain and various Balkan countries. Both resorts are currently experiencing high occupancy rates, with Bulgarians making up the second largest tourist group.

Borovets: Blagovesta Tomova, president of the Union Association of Hoteliers and Owners of the Borovets Resort, revealed that British tourists are leading the foreign influx, while visitors from the Balkans, particularly North Macedonia, Kosovo and Romania, also contribute significantly. The recent relaxation of visa requirements from January 1 has attracted tourists from other Balkan countries, including Serbia and Kosovo.

Tomova highlighted the continuous improvement of slope conditions thanks to technical snow maintenance by the Borosport company. The efforts of hoteliers led to significant occupancy and the resort expanded its range of activities, including themed evenings catering to various tourist interests. After winter, Borovets plans to embrace convention tourism before moving into the summer season.

While recognizing BorovetsFollowing the success of the project, Tomova recognized opportunities for infrastructure improvements, particularly in parking lots and overall aesthetics.

Pamporovo: Marian Belyakov, executive director of Pamporovo AD, reported that the number of foreign tourists closely matched that of the previous year, with an increase observed in Romanian, Greek and Serbian groups. Pamporovo expects full capacity between January 15 and March 4.

The statistical office of the Smolyan region, where Pamporovo is located, noted a diverse international guest list, including visitors from Iceland, Egypt, Australia, China, Chile and the United Arab Emirates. This eclectic mix complements the traditionally active British and Irish tourist base. The trend of guests booking tours independently has expanded the resort’s reach, attracting visitors from non-traditional markets.
