Center for commercial tourism of Bulgaria and other Balkan countries

According to data from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Edirne has been visited since the beginning of 2022 for weekend shopping by more than 500,000 people, mainly from Bulgaria and Greece. Bulgarians account for 95 percent of these visits.

Bahri Dinar, president of an association promoting the development of Edirne, said that the number of Bulgarian tourists who visit the city on weekends exceeds Edirne’s 150,000 residents several times over. On Fridays, the streets, markets and catering establishments of the Turkish city are filled mainly with Bulgarian tourists who, together with the Greeks, make trade flourish in Edirne, he commented.

In April, during the Easter holidays, even more Bulgarian tourists are expected in Edirne.
