Albanian, Kosovar, Macedonian and Montenegrin hikers came together to climb the peak of Magaro Mountain, located in Galicica National Park in North Macedonia, known to Albanian locals as “Mali i Thate”, an initiative that aims to promote tourism in the country. region.
Arineta Mula, a mountaineer from Kosovo, has climbed the summit of the world, Mount Everest. She tells us that the beautiful thing about nature is that it knows neither borders nor nationalities.
“Nature knows no borders, states or nationalities. It’s like love that stops at nothing. We are here now, I am happy that there are people from Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro. We’re having a really good time,” Arineta tells us.
Even the other tourist guides are very enthusiastic about this initiative.
“We should have more collaborations like this because, as we know, we come from small countries, which diminishes what we have to offer. So, if we cooperate with other countries in the region, we could expand our business even further and earn much more than we could offer. we do it ourselves. I hope that by the end of the week we can finalize something and find something we can work on together,” says Arian Krasniqi, a mountaineer from Kosovo.
“It is very important to have regional cooperation in tourism because we need to work together. If we work together, we can show the beauties of our countries and be more successful,” says Sekula Sarevski, a hiker from North Macedonia.
Rubin Nikoloski, a hiking instructor from North Macedonia, also believes that cooperation could boost tourism in the region.
“The Western Balkans have shown that when there is cooperation, more tourists come to these destinations. The quality of tourism is improving, as is the number of tourists,” he says.
Albanian hiking coach Mimoza Gega has appealed to all women who want to try their luck.
“It’s never too late, I would say. I myself thought I had reached a certain age and maybe it’s a little late to start it, but now I think it’s never too late. You should try everything, why not? And I also believe that it is a very good way to help yourself and to have motivation in life,” says Gega.
The main objective of this initiative is to build strong cooperation ties and promote tourist sites in the Western Balkans.
