EMITT tourism exhibition opens in Istanbul with participants from 95 countries

The 27th Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition (EMITT) opened on Tuesday at the TUYAP Istanbul Conference and Convention Center. More than 600 tourism professionals from 95 countries have applied to participate in the show, which will end on February 9, said its director.

It is one of the world’s five leading trade fairs dedicated to tourism and travel in the Balkans, Middle East and Central Asia.

Industry trends, medical tourism, economics and destination marketing are on the agenda.

Organizers said some 5,000 companies from nearly 95 countries, including Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Brazil, Egypt, Iran, Japan, Northern Cyprus (recognized only by Turkey) and Venezuela, would participate on an area of 70,000 square meters.

Among the stands of foreign participants, the Bulgarian stand, which has more than 10 leading tourism companies, is particularly impressive.

Tourism Minister Zaritsa Dinkova, who is visiting the fair, told BTA: “We have made efforts, because our goal is to present Bulgaria as a year-round tourist destination. We hope to achieve an economic effect – to attract more tourists, to show Bulgaria as a country with remarkable resources in tourism and travel, SPA holidays and cultural tourism. This is why our offers include various destinations.

Alongside traditional winter and summer tourism tour operators, the Bulgarian stand presents lesser-known destinations on the Turkish market for the first time, such as Hisarya, Kyustendil, Veliko Tarnovo and Stara Zagora.
