Florida State University will highlight its internationalization and global outreach efforts during International Education Month in November. This month-long celebration is a continuation of International Education Week, a joint initiative led by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, held nationally in the third week of November.
With European study centers in England, Spain and Italy, a branch campus in the Republic of Panama and more than 45 global exchange programs, FSU’s international impact is significant. This semester, Florida State hosted its the largest cohort of international students from 74 countries, including Austria, India, Japan, France and Denmark.
The events are free and open to the public and will begin October 25 and continue through November. Featured events include:
WEDNESDAY OCTOBER. 25
International Study Abroad Programs Fair
11 a.m.-3 p.m., Landis Green
Faculty and staff from FSU’s international programs will be available for students to learn more about the programs they offer. Students can also chat with professors, international study center staff and international program ambassadors.
World music concert: Brazilian ensemble Grupo Jaraguá and Andean Ensemble
7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., Opperman Music Hall
The FSU College of Music presents a performance by the Brazilian Music Ensemble, also known as “Grupo Jaraguá,” and the Andean Music Ensemble as part of its World Music Concert Series.

FSU’s Winthrop-King Institute for French and Francophone Studies presents the fourth annual Global Africas “Africa and China” symposium to enrich understanding of the Africa-China relationship beyond geopolitical and economic efforts. Duncan Yoon, assistant professor at New York University, will discuss his new book “China in African Literature of the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries,” in which he explores the controversial symbolism of China in African literature . register here.
