According to the deputy director of the Hungarian Tourism Agency, Zsofia Jakab, the increase in the number of direct flights corresponds to her country’s desire to open its doors to visitors to this Asian country.

“It is very important that we restore as many direct flights as possible between China and Hungary. » Jakab emphasized in this regard, stressing that the resumption of services should allow a return to pre-pandemic tourism levels.

Before the spread of the coronavirus, Hungarian authorities welcomed around 280,000 Chinese visitors, while in 2021 a total of 5,000 tourists arrived in China. At the same time, Jakab said that last year a total of 16,000 Chinese tourists visited Hungary.

“We welcome our Chinese travelers with a diverse dining experience in the capital and the countryside,” she says.

According to figures provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), a total of 98,726,098 people in China have tested positive for coronavirus, resulting in the death of 117,743 people.

Recently, Chinese authorities have faced a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 infections, while many countries around the world have begun to reimpose additional requirements for arrivals from China.

Last month, the European Union member states have agreed to recommend that all member states impose pre-departure testing for arrivals from China and random testing upon arrival to contain the spread of the virus and protect the lives of citizens.
