Intrepid presents the first ever expedition to Albania – KARRYON

Intrepid Travel will launch its first self-guided expedition to Albania in September 2023 – an all-new nine-day journey that will visit parts of the Balkan country rarely visited by tourists.

New Intrepid Travel Expedition to Albania was created in partnership with the Ecotourism Experiences Group MEETING network and departs from the capital, Tirana, on September 30, 2023.

All MEET experiences are nature-based cultural experiences with a low ecological footprint and maximized social impact that allow travelers to discover a new side of the Mediterranean.

This trip’s MEET experience takes place in Divjake-Karavasta National Park and includes a visit to the protected Karavasta Lagoon and a bird rehabilitation center treating wild birds on their migratory route.

Albania has grown in popularity in recent years, thanks to its beautiful and diverse mountain and coastal landscapes and fascinating culture.

Nicknamed “Europe’s last unturned stone,” Albania focuses on alternative travel, promoting agrotourism and ecotourism by encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in nature and meet local communities.

Zina Bencheikh, Managing Director of Intrepid Travel EMEA, said the trip is an example of B Corp’s commitment to providing sustainable, experience-rich travel for conscious travelers that has a positive impact on local communities.

“We are extremely proud of our partnership with MEET, as their responsible travel philosophy aligns with our mission to create positive change through the joy of travel,” she said.

“We are proud to be recognized by Intrepid and to see Albania in the spotlight with such a high quality, low impact product.”
