After implementing difficult economic measures, the country will continue with fiscal consolidation and strengthening its economic growth, she said on Wednesday during the meeting held in Trieste, Italy.
According to the Serbian government, Brnabic “stressed that this would be impossible without regional stability and added that the Western Balkan countries, within the framework of the Berlin process, should establish mutual ties.”
She “particularly emphasized that above all she was referring to connecting young people and that the Western Balkans region should focus on positive things and concluded that the whole region would then move forward together.”
“It goes beyond politics. We all have to think in a victorious way. We have to overcome the situation where one gets and the other loses. We have to think that we all get,” she said.
The Prime Minister “stressed that she wants to work with her colleagues from other countries to connect local governments in different countries to jointly initiate local economic development and attract investors.”
Brnabic particularly emphasized that the Western Balkan countries are connected by digitalization and that this is the key to the success of our region.
In this context, she stressed the importance of “encouraging young people”.
“They have entrepreneurial energy and that is why we must encourage start-ups and innovation activities. This is the opportunity for the development of our country, in which young people see their chance,” concluded Brnabic .
Earlier in the day, on the sidelines of the summit, she met German Chancellor Angel Merkel.
Brnabic and Merkel “spoke about Serbia’s European integration, steps taken on the path to EU membership and the results of economic reforms and budgetary consolidation in the previous period”, announced the Serbian government.
The theme of the meeting was regional cooperation of the Western Balkan countries and the role of Serbia in this process.
Brnabic and Merkel “agreed that digitalization, launching innovations and creating start-ups could be a new perspective for the Western Balkan countries.”
