According to the company’s founder and CEO Nikola Mijailovic, one of Joberty’s main goals is to boost the recruitment and job search process in the IT sector by creating a product specifically designed for developers.
“When you leave a review, we ask you questions based on the seven most important factors for each developer when it comes to career-related decisions. These factors are projects, technology, team, learning and personal development, company culture, salary and benefits, and the interview process,” explains Mijailovic.
The starting point for the creation of Joberty was the difficulty for companies in the region to hire developers. However, for Mijailovic, it also represented an opportunity.
“I knew how difficult it is to hire developers. At the time, I was CEO and one of the founders of an HR agency in Serbia, facing difficulties finding IT professionals. I have often talked about it with those around me, but especially with members of the IT community who simply confirmed that the need for an experience sharing platform did exist. My wife Dušica, one of the founders and product manager of Joberty, encouraged me to pursue the idea which became reality a few months later,” Mijailovic told The Recursive.
With the help of Joberty’s two other co-founders – Slavko Šaponjić (CTO) and Nebojša Aradski (Technical Lead), and a small team of developers, Joberty became a reality in 2019.
“Today, in Serbia and Croatia, Joberty is used by more than 50,000 IT professionals, who have left almost 15,000 reviews, and we cooperate with more than 1,200 technology companies,” says Mijailovic.
Bringing best practices to the largest IT market in the SEE region
By expanding into Romania, Joberty aims to bring best practices already implemented in countries like Serbia and Croatia, adds Mijailovic.
“After successfully launching Serbia and Croatia, our next stop is Romania, the largest IT market in the SEE region, with over 120,000 members of the IT community. Furthermore, besides important Romanian IT companies, many global players have their regional offices in Romania, which is one of the reasons why we chose Romania as the next market where we will expand,” he said. -he declared to The Recursive.
Joberty Romania already has around 1000 registered developers who provide more than 1000 reviews for different IT companies.
The main goal of the company in Romania is to position Joberty as a relevant platform within the IT community, gain user trust and establish the first contacts with our partners and customers, Mijailovic said.
“Joberty will be a trusted partner for all stakeholders and will work closely with them to bring more transparency to the technology sector. We want to improve the IT world through better understanding between candidates, employees and companies,” emphasizes Mijailovic.
According to him, over the past three years, the company has learned a lot about the SEE region and the challenges that companies and technology professionals face in the sector.
“Approximately 80% of the IT community are passive job seekers and are not actively looking for employment. This is the audience that Joberty targets, because they come to our platform to get relevant information about the companies that have approached them,” he told The Recursive.
As a workplace community platform, Joberty aims to connect with the entire tech world, not just active job seekers.
“Businesses need help to better position themselves, and they are not always aware of their strengths and weaknesses. It’s our job to help them achieve and change for the better. Mijailovic concluded.
